Dog firmly on the leash, she started off again, holding tiny Edward in her free hand, closer to her body as though to balance him. She walked as smoothly as possible, unwilling to make the little-bean’s ride unnecessarily bumpy.

“Hmm? Nice,” she echoed with a small chuckle. “Well, I guess I try to be… How about you? Are you hungry?”

Small as the creature was, she imagined it was difficult for him to find enough food to feed himself comfortably. That, combined with how much difficulty he’d had just crawling into her palm made her think it had been a while since Ed’s last meal.

“Nice!” bean Ed insisted knowingly. He remained in Sam’s hand, feeling pretty comfortable with the way she handled him. The little creature was partial to remaining close to the girl as she continued to walk.

The topic of food caused the bean’s eyes to light up. Bean Ed’s stomach also growled befittingly in that same instant. “Y-Yhhh-Yes!” he insisted. The little one already had a favorite food, too, but he was not entirely certain of its name. “Hhh-Hot…” he began slowly. “Kuh….” he tried to finish. Bean Ed continued to think hard. How did the rest of that go? He could envision the light, fluffy, buttery food in his head. They came in big circles and usually had sticky syrup on them. Sometimes, the delicious circles were even in stacks.

“Meow?” She echoed, a bit confused as to why the little creature was mewling like a cat. Cute as he was, Ed wasn’t answering her question… But he’d nodded, so that must mean he was hurt, right? “Oww… Me-oww— oh! Ouch…? Ouch, right? It hurts?” She nodded and gestured as she spoke, hoping to help him understand.

A little, tiny, injured human named Ed. How could something like this even exist? Still… He was there and needed help, and considering her dog had all but tried to eat him, she couldn’t just turn him away. Sighing, Sam leaned down a little bit closer and held out a hand.

“I can help you— make it better,” she told him, turning her palm upward invitingly. He could crawl onto it if he wanted and part of her really hoped he would. “I promise you I won’t hurt you…”

Initially, bean Edward was met with frustration upon not being understood. Humans really had complex languages. However, his eyes lit up when Sam did deduce what he meant. The little sprite nodded his head in a more lively way, wanting Sam to know how she was right. “Owwww,” Edward concurred.

The gesture of the young lady extending her hand made the tiny bean feel a lot more welcomed. There was something in this girl’s eyes; she appeared to have a genuine interest in wanting to help him recover. While bean Edward had a difficult time trusting humans, he was running out of options. Maybe Sam would never cast him aside like garbage.

The tiny creature used all his strength. He obediently crawled into Sam’s palm flopping down in it tiredly. “Saaam… Nih… Nice,” bean Edward concluded so far. She saved him from that dog, after all. This seemed to be off to a promising start.

For a moment, she could only stare, amazed by the fact that this little creatures was talking (however basically that may have been). This little, tiny human (if it really even was a human…) was forming words. Talking to her… Amazing.

“H-Hi…! I-I’m Sam,” she stuttered, finally snapping herself out of a bemused trance. She was relieved to find that her dog had given up trying to get at the little creature (apparently named Ed) and had settled on the sidewalk with his head between his paws, just whining now.

“I-It’s nice to meet you?” She hoped that was right for this situation. She looked carefully at him, contemplating just how someone could be so small… It was then that she noticed what looked like a bruise on his cheek. “Are you hurt,” she asked, gesturing to the spot on his cheek.

Bean Edward kept looking at the girl, who introduced herself as Sam. She looked just as surprised as he did. The little creature was honestly surprised that somebody had finally noticed him. “Ssssuuh… Saaaam,” the tiny sprite repeated. He was partial to how her name was so short. It would be easier to commit to memory; Bean Edward still struggled with longer words and phrases.

“Yhh… Yes. You-you… Mmph…” Bean Edward did not really know how to express that he felt the same way. The frustrating thing was he was beginning to understand more words, though he did not always know how to formulate replies. He nodded his head at her second question. “Me owww’s…” Bean Edward answered sadly, meaning he was indeed hurt and in pain. However, it likely resembled the sound a cat made more.

Walking the dog was never her first pick of a chore, but it was certainly better than cleaning the bathroom, which is what her sister was stuck at home doing.  So the young woman shuffled after the dog at the end of the leash in her hand and pushed her complaints away. The canine, curious as ever, sniffed and snuffed along the ground, his nose close to the pavement, his tail wagging furiously.

She watched him, more concerned with how dark the sky was getting (the last thing she needed was to get caught up in a rainstorm) than anything else. Figuring the dog was exercised enough, she decided to let him walk the next block before turning around and heading home.

But before she could tug her dog around, he had pulled on the leash, straining towards a bench on the side pavement. “What are you doing, boy…?”

With a frustrated sigh, she tugged the eager dog backwards, afraid he was going after a young bird or rabbit. Instead, when she approached the bench and looked down, she was shocked to see not a small animal, but what looked like a small person.

“…Hello,” she asked, still working on keeping an eager dog at bay. She tentatively reached out a rand and pushed back a few long, thick stalks of grass that blocked the way. “Hello…?”

The sudden snout of a dog appearing caused the little bean to jump out of his skin. For a moment, it looked like it almost was the end. But then a teenage girl was keeping the beast at bay. Bean Edward looked up at her in wonder, his mouth falling slightly agape. Perhaps she cared. After all, she was protecting him from that big dog. This seemed like the best shot at living he was going to get.

“Haaah….” Bean Edward began. It had been a long time since he spoke to anyone. He was rusty on the few words he knew, his vocabulary not being that advanced to begin with. “Haah… Heeh…. Hello,” he repeated in return. “Me… Me Ed!” he introduced, though he still stayed sitting since his legs were weak. “Wh… Who you-you?”

The little magical bean was running out of options. He had been lost from home for some time. It was doubtful that Alphonse was ever going to find him. He was uncertain even where he was now. A bird had picked him up a while back and flew him somewhere far away. Bean Edward was fortunate that he did not get eaten. The mother bird had been trying to feed him to her babies. He just barely managed to squirm away from her in time, though he had taken quite a rough fall. He was very bruised, though fortunately none of his limbs seemed to be broken.

Bean Edward was currently hiding underneath a park bench. His golden orbs were sad. He was feeling particularly wary of any bird beaks. The little sprite figured his chances were better under here. Hopefully, no stupid bird or other animal would mistake him as prey again.

But the baby bean was getting hungry. He desperately needed human help. His legs were too weary to journey any further, and he had no more energy left to climb, which ruled out trying to sneak into any fruit stands. Bean Edward continued to sulk. He could not die here, but he was lacking in ambition and strength to push forward.

((I really don’t think I’ll be checking this blog anymore due to lack of interest from the RPing community. It’s disheartening when you keep sending opening posts and nobody replies. I respect having lives. We all have them. But lack of communication just sucks after a while.

Thank you all who played with Mame Ed! (: It was fun. I don’t have the heart to delete this blog. Maybe I’ll remake a more ‘marketable’ Ed blog or something down the road.

If anyone’s ever interested in picking up a RP from here or Mame Ed, please email me at hi-ku@hotmail.com. Or message me on my alfons-heiderich tumblr. See you!))

He knew nobody liked him.

“Yes,” she said. “Black goes with anything and both are such pretty colors. The red sky when the sun goes down and the way it reflects off that mop of black hair….” she trailed off rather than confusing him.

Bean Edward stared up at Edwarda with large and confused eyes. “Who Mop…?” he asked tentatively, thinking that was somebody’s name.

wanderlusthousewife:

She frowned. “I like several colors. I like red and purple but I like black most of all.” She nodded at his earlier statements. “Good!”

“Red-red! Me likes best!” bean Edward shared with her, perking up when she listed her favorites. “Red black go…togeth…er!” he shared, hugging onto her pant leg.
